Serving with your local church is a meaningful way to put love into action, build real community, and help create a welcoming place where people can encounter hope, healing, and Jesus.
❋ Prayer Ministry
CORE 104 is our volunteer prayer team that meets every Sunday morning in room CORE 104 during both services. Volunteers pray the whole service for the services and the people attending. During services, people can write prayer requests on cards; these are brought to CORE 104 and prayed over individually that morning. This ministry is an important part of our Sunday worship.
❋ Children's Ministry
Serving in children’s ministry is a joyful and rewarding way to invest in the next generation, creating a safe, welcoming, and fun space where kids can experience God’s love, learn the Bible, grow in faith, and feel like they truly belong.
❋ Student Ministry
Our youth need intentional adults who will show up, build trust, and pour God’s truth into their lives when it matters most. Authentic Youth at FBC Athens creates space to gather and study God’s Word, play games, and break bread together. Serving there means you get to be a steady, hope-filled presence on our students journey.
❋ Missions Opportunities
Missions, both at home and abroad, are at the heart of FBC Athens. We want to do everything in our power to share the saving message of Jesus Christ and demonstrate His love by ministering to the hurting people of the world.
❋ Worship Ministry
Serving in the Worship Ministry at FBC Athens is about encouraging and equipping the church to love God by encountering His Presence in worship. We prepare our hearts, the space, and the content of each gathering so our church can passionately express their love for God through song, Scripture, art, and prayer. Each week, we bring our very best as an offering, helping create an atmosphere where people can worship with freedom and joy.
❋ Generations Ministry
Our Generations Ministry serves the empty nesters and beyond at FBC Athens, creating meaningful ways to connect, grow, and belong. We offer men’s and women’s Bible studies on Tuesdays, plus a Joy Choir that meets Thursday mornings for singing and Bible study. Several times each year, the Joy Choir also visits local nursing homes to share encouragement through music. Throughout the year, the ministry hosts fun trips like the Green Acres Christmas concert and the Texas State Fair.
❋ Local Service
FBC Athens (Texas) provides many opportunities to serve in Athens and Henderson County. Each person around us was created in God’s image and is infinitely valuable to God. We care about the whole person. Thus, we actively seek opportunities to meet physical and emotional needs, but ultimately, one’s deepest need is a personal relationship with their Creator through Jesus Christ.
❋ Cancer Support
Provide a “touch of love” to help meet the needs of cancer patients and their families with prayer and support. Activities include blanket making and packing with “goody” bags, card writing, providing meals, and transportation (when available).
❋ Tech Team
Our Tech Ministry at FBC Athens supports the worship team and many aspects of church life, helping create a clear, distraction-free environment where people can focus on worship and the Word. If you love working behind the scenes, have a knack for technical details, or simply want to be helpful, our Tech Team might be the place for you. Whether it’s sound, slides, lights, or video, your steady support helps every moment run smoothly so the message can be heard and hearts can engage.
❋ Wow Ministries
WOW Ministries is our church’s welcome team. Volunteers greet regulars and first-time guests and run the Global Cafe, serving coffee and tea each Sunday morning.
If you enjoy hospitality and making people feel valued and welcome, this is a great place to serve.
❋ Upward Football
Upward Athens flag football is a wonderful opportunity for kids to have fun while being loved and coached, helping them grow in wisdom, character, and stature—and to gain favor both with God and with others.
